The September membership meeting was held at the Bay Breeze Restaurant in Hendersonville with 21 members attending. Stephnie Williams and her eleven year old son Joey from Ohio were our guest and potential members. Having  moved here about four months ago and Stephnie and Joey started looking for antique car and tractor clubs in the area. Both were very involved in local cars and tractor shows in the Ohio are attending with her father. Joey is very proud of grandpa’s antique Corvette.

Our club picnic will be October 24 at Harmon Field in Tryon, NC. Jeanne Robertson has circulated a reminder with all the times and necessary information so I won’t bore you duplicating it here. I know Jeanne and her team will have a great picnic planned for us to enjoy please support their efforts with your attendance.

 Kin LaRowe reported on the membership for GSMR members remaining at 177 and 80 LDC members totaling 257 for 2015. Kim reminded us that any members joining in October or later this year would receive the remainder of 2015 in addition to 2016 membership. It is that time of year once again for us to re-new our memberships and the renewal form is included with this newsletter. If you have any questions please contact Kim LaRowe828-891-8299.

Mother Nature seems to be expediting the close of our season similar to the way she delayed the beginning of it earlier this year. However the rain is much needed and appreciated. Our events calendar for October as I know it is;

October 6-10 Hershey Fall Meet in Hershey, PA. Some of our members will be attending Hershey and will miss the Autorama locally so please cover our absence and make Autorama a booming success.

October 10th AUTORAMA DOWNTOWN HENDERSONVILLE (Old Court House block)

October 17th  8-3 PM Spencer Transportation Museum Show in Spencer, NC

October 24th JOINT CLUB PICNIC AT HARMON FIELD IN TRYON, NC. The picnic will serve as our membership meeting, therefore NO meeting in October.

Bill Wearmouth and Kim have set the banners announcing our Autorama show Oct. 1oth. Bill made and passed out beautiful flyers and poster at the meeting to be displayed in supporting business windows.  Bill and Kim have put a lot of effort into making this event a success please show your support attending with your pride and joy. Hopefully the rain will be out of our area and the sun shining bright.

Last month’s Lucky Dog winner was not in attendance but Joe Nowakowski shared a hair raising experience that fellow member Ernie Dustman had recently after selling his 59 Mercury to a gentleman in Minnesota. Seems the carrier of the vehicle had little experience securing old vehicle for transportation through our mountains. It didn’t make it through the gorge to Knoxville.

Remember you are invited to join the Donut Derlicks every Saturday morning for breakfast, 7:00 AM at Nancy Lynn’s Dinner in Mills River.

Gary Barnett and the LDC folks are planning the following tour. Check it out it sounds like a lot of fun.

Tentative Fall Color Tour Oct.15, Thursday is planned for the old cars. The tour will follow 150 through Lincolnton. A visit to Steel Rubber Products, then on to Lake Norman and board the Catawba Queen Mississippi Riverboat for lunch and a hour and half tour of Lake Norman. Sorry, a weekend tour cannot be arranged for this, we hope you can schedule for this one. Let Ernie Dustman or Gary Barnett know if you are interested in participating.

Happy motoring until we meet again. Please SUPPORT THOSE SUPPORTING US!
